The U.S. Department of Commerce today announced that 62 million international visitors traveled to the United States in 2011, a four percent increase over 2010. In 2011, the top inbound markets continued to be Canada and Mexico. Visits from Canada increased five percent while arrivals from Mexico were flat. Five of the top inbound overseas regional markets posted record level visits in 2011: South America, Oceania, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa.

In 2011, overseas resident visits (28 million) were up six percent compared to 2010, creating a new record level of overseas visits for the United States.
Top 15 Countries
In 2011, 12 of the top 15 countries posted increases in visitation to the United States. In 2011, Mexico and the United Kingdom were flat, while Japan posted the only decline, down four percent for the year.Nine of the top 15 countries posted record visitation to the United States in 2011: Canada, Brazil, France, South Korea, the People's Republic of China, Australia, Italy, Spain and India.
